Today marks the launch of Nigel Cabourn for Converse First String footwear collection, which features the Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey and the all-new Chuck Taylor All Star Specialty Plimsole. The UK-based designer is known for his infusion of military fabrics into his work, and that’s precisely what he’s done here with the First String collection. Cabourn examined Converse’s rich American heritage of boots and sneakers for the outdoors and the military and aligned the classic Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey with WWII flight suit fabric uppers in military-inspired navy and olive green colors.

Tenue de Nîmes is launching a collection of special, hand-dyed, natural indigo, customized Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes that will be released during Amsterdam Fashion Week this summer. On July 15th Tenue de Nîmes will host a ‘Down-Town’ event in their Amsterdam-based store to celebrate the release of this limited edition shoe. Tenue de Nîmes asked the legendary denim experts, the Manabe family from Okoyama in Japan, owners of the Momotaro brand and Rampuya dyeing factory, if they would be able to indigo-dye a limited amount of 50 pairs and Mr. Manabe gracefully obliged.

From the Converse First String line comes the Johnny Weld Hi sneaker, a modern take on the iconic Jack Purcell kick. The shoe features shank detailing on the outsole as well as Bemis weld detailing, a technique used most commonly to seam-seal waterproof outerwear and outdoor tents. It’s also lined with terry cloth and is fitted with pinstripe detailing on the rubber midsole alonside the signature Jack Purcell smile.
