With this year’s SIHH just weeks away, IWC is getting ahead of the wave by updating its Portuguese family of watches with this the Portuguese Yacht Club Chono. It’s powered by the same self-winding in-house movement from previous iterations while other details include the chrono’s flyback function and 68-hour power reserve. There’s also a unique chronograph display that uses one dial to indicate both elapsed hours and minutes. One of the biggest changes comes from IWC taking note of comments from potential buyers who wanted a slightly smaller version of the sportiest watch in the Portuguese lineup. The case diameter drops here just a bit from 45.4 to 43.5 mm. The original Portugieser came out in 1939, so it’s only right we see this unveil on its 75th anniversary. The IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chrono comes with a black rubber strap and buckle that matches the case material. Look for it to release in the weeks ahead.
