An Inside Look at Long Island City’s Boro Hotel

Boro-Hotel-A-Chic-Cheap-Place-to-Spend-the-Night-in-NYC-Lead

When traveling to see New York City, most tourists make plans to see the sights in Manhattan and Brooklyn first. The drawback is, of course, having to deal with expensive hotels. Long Island City just might change all that with the opening of Boro Hotel. The new Boro Hotel is currently offering attractive summer rates. But for the discerning traveler, it’s not just the rates that are so enticing about the hotel: It’s also the architecture and interior design by New York City’s own Grzywinski + Pons. Sporting what’s now known as the “soft industrial” style, the Boro Hotel interior features concrete walls, oak floors, and wood paneling. Most rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the majestic skyline of Manhattan with the lusher, greener foreground of Long Island City. And if that’s not enough, Boro Hotel also features lighting and furniture from DD Interior, Muuto, and Jasper Morrison for Vitra. Points of interest around the Boro Hotel include the MoMA PS1 art exhibition center and The Noguchi Museum. Also, transport links into the New York City most travelers want to see are easily accessible, making the hotel a fantastic take-off point. (via Selectism)
