Michael Jordan’s humble beginnings at the Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. Now, his old school gym is getting a makeover courtesy of the brand His Airness and his legacy has forged. Jordan Brand celebrated its 30th anniversary by completely renovating the Emsley A. Laney school gym. It was a complete remake, all the way from the floor up to the lights. Aside from the aesthetic makeover, the newly-refurbished lobby now sports trophy cases with photos, sneakers, and artifacts honoring the school and the legend it produced. The gym also sports a new player lounge. All-in-all, the renovation was meant to give athletes an even better, more conducive learning and training experience in the school.
It was in the same gym where Jordan got his iconic #23 jersey number during junior varsity. The rest is history: Three great decades of Michael Jordan, who elevated the NBA and the game of basketball to the global popularity it enjoys today.
