New Balance Test Run Project 3.0 ‘Multi-Color’ Limited Edition Sneaker Is Made with Eco-Friendly Materials

With the Test Run Project 3.0 ‘Multi-Color’, New Balance has introduced their latest effort to find innovative ways to make the shoe-making process more sustainable without diluting sneaker performance. Each Test Run Project 3.0 is made from leftover surplus materials at the end of a season’s production run and ensuring that no two pairs of the TRP3 sneakers are identical. Uppers feature a mix of mesh, ripstop, leather and nylon fabrics, with a multi-colored design to deliver a bold look.

Details are immense, with the top of the tongue featuring a thick pull tab with “MADE with SURPLUS’ run over batted nylon. Leftover colors of the brand’s raw Fresh Foam material make their way onto the TRP3 midsoles with repurposed surplus materials making up the upper mesh, upper synthetic, upper webbing, hook and loop, as well as all of the stitching threads. Sockliners come over from another model’s leftover pieces, further preventing wastage. The outsole is Vibram Ecostep, which contains a minimum of 30% reclaimed scrap rubber from Vibram’s own sole production.
