Bell & Ross Releases Versatile BR 03-94 Multimeter Chronograph

Bell & Ross has released a new limited-edition chronograph that infuses a multi-scale chronograph with a boldly modern aircraft instrument-inspired design language. The BR 03-94 Multimeter brings a focus on fitness and a barrage of useful information in a bright and graphic design. With this athletic focus, the French watch company rates the watch for water resistance of 100 meters.

Presented in a 42mm matte black ceramic case, it follows the familiar form of the BR 03-94 line with the brand’s signature cockpit gauge-inspired rounded square form, short wedge-style lugs, and narrow chamfered bezel, and prominent decorative screws.

The chronograph integrates a wide range of data into a playful and colorful yet functional all-in-one timing tool for athletes. It is visually similar to the Mido Ocean Star Decompression Timer 1961 and past iterations of the Fortis Marinemaster – as it showcases multiple colors divided into several smaller tables.

The BR 03-94 Multimeter’s dial has no less than five concentric chronograph scales, each with its own color. Looking at it one by one, its outermost track in orange shows a pulsometer scale that accurately measures heart rates, followed by a muted seafoam green ring that tracks a wearer’s breathing rate using a rarely-seen asthmometer scale. Moving on to the middle meter, it features a white standard tachymeter scale calibrated with automobiles in mind. The last two rings are are tachymeters in canary yellow and khaki – calibrated for cyclists and runners, respectively, making them stand out by removing the traditional 500-to-60 sequence.

With complex scale tracks, Bell & Ross has included a chart explaining each of the five chronograph scales with recommended timing lengths to increase subdial legibility. The date window, however, is a less efficient addition with its cutout display that interrupts the overall design balance.

Bell & Ross’ BR 03-94 Multimeter is powered by the BR-CAL.301 automatic chronograph movement, which is based on the ETA 2894-2. The BR-CAL.301 is a common sight across the brand’s chronograph lines, and it features a 42-hour power reserve and a 28,800-bph beat rate. Bell & Ross couples the timepiece with a multilayer perforated black rubber strap to complete the look.

The new limited edition Bell & Ross BR 03-94 Multimeter is an eye-catching display of the depth and versatility of the chronograph complication, with a vibrant and graphic dial treatment that compresses an astounding abundance of data into an elegant design.

The Bell & Ross BR 03-94 Multimeter is limited to 500 pieces and is now available through authorized dealers. The current MSRP for the piece stands at $5,800.
