Grand Seiko SBGJ273 GMT is Inspired by Autumnal Reds and The First Grand Seiko From 1960

Grand Seiko revealed its latest timepiece, the Grand Seiko SBGJ273 GMT. Inspired by how red maple leaves reflect off traditional Japanese lacquered wooden floors, the new Hi-Beat SBGJ273 GMT also gets a classic case shape from the Elegance Collection inspired by the first Grand Seiko watch from 1960.

The 39.5mm Grand Seiko SBGJ273 GMT features the brand’s classic round stainless steel case shape, box-shape sapphire crystal, stainless steel with sapphire crystal display caseback, a red striated dial rich with a range of red colors, polished steel and printed 24-hour indices, gold GMT hand, and water resistance up to 30m. It comes with a stainless steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp.

Powering the new Grand Seiko SBGJ273 GMT is the Hi-Beat 36000 GMT Caliber 9S86 that uses MEMS escapement parts, as well as a Spron alloy mainspring and hairspring. The movement features automatic winding, 37 jewels, hours, minutes, seconds, date, and GMT functions, an accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds per day, and a power reserve of 55 hours.

The Grand Seiko SBGJ273 GMT is available from the Grand Seiko website and in select boutiques. It retails for $7,100.
