Apple unveiled the new Apple Watch Ultra 2 at this week’s Apple Event. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 boasts several new features on top of a net zero carbon footprint. The new Apple Watch Ultra 2 is a performance watch built on the new S9 SiP chip and was tested to perform in a wide range of temperature and altitude levels.
The new Apple Watch Ultra 2 sports a 49mm ultra-lightweight titanium case. It features a bright Always‑On Retina display that has 3000 nits at its brightest and dims to 1 nit at its darkest, a modular Ultra watch face, automatic Night Mode, dynamic altitude, depth, or seconds along the edges, GPS antenna and precision dual-frequency GPS system, flashlight boost, dual speakers, action button in International Orange, an 86-decibel siren, rotating Digital Crown, three-microphone array, depth gauge, new band colors, an EN13319 certification, IP6X dust resistance, and water resistance of up to 100m.
The new double tap gesture is a new feature for the newest generation of Apple watches. Initiated by tapping together the thumb and index finger, the gesture allows users to activate Apple Watch Ultra 2 features in a new way, like snoozing an alarm, answering a call, ending a call, pausing and resuming timers, responding to a message, playing or pausing music, and more.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is powered by the new S9 SiP. The custom Apple silicon has a new dual-core CPU architecture with 5.6 billion transistors and a new four-core Neural Engine for faster machine-learning tasks. It has up to 36-hour battery life at normal usage, up to 72 hours at low power settings enabled, and up to 17 hours of workout use in Low Power Mode.
With a goal of carbon neutrality across the entire company by 2030, Apple is taking the leap by implementing a multi-pronged approach to solving the problem through the use of recycled and renewable materials, renewable energy, and low-carbon shipping modes. And for the first time, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is now available in case and band combinations that are carbon neutral.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is available for pre-order now and is expected to be available starting Friday, September 22nd, with a retail price starting at $799. For more information, please visit the Apple Watch Ultra 2 website.
