Apple iPhone 15, Plus, Pro and Pro Max Look To Right Tech Brand’s Unsustainable Past

The Apple Event revealed the next generation of Apple’s smartphones. The Apple iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the latest and greatest from the Cupertino-based tech giant. Marrying sustainability and technology, the next generation of Apple iPhone products are arriving soon.

The 6.1” Apple iPhone 15 and 6.7” iPhone 15 Plus comes in 5 new color-infused design and feature an aerospace grade aluminum enclosure, Super Retina XDR display, ceramic shield, dynamic island, peak HDR brightness of 1600 nits, peek outdoor brightness of 2000 nits, 48MP main camera with a quad-pixel sensor and 100% Focus Pixels, 2x telephoto option, advanced computational photography, second-gen Ultra Wideband chip, audio voice isolation, Emergency SOS via satellite, Roadside Assistance via satellite, USB-C connectivity, and MagSafe tech.

The Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus both run on the A16 Bionic chip, first seen on the iPhone 14 Pro. It features an image signal processor, 16-core Neural Engine, 5-core GPU, and 6-core CPU.

The headliners for the event are the 6.1” iPhone 15 Pro and 6.7” iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 17. Both the Pro and the Pro Max come in 4 new finishes. It features an aerospace grade 5 brushed-titanium enclosure design, Ceramic Shield front, customizable Action button, dynamic island, Super Retina XDR display, Extreme Dynamic Range, Always-On display, and standby mode.

Both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max run on the new A17 Pro with the industry-first 19 billion 3-nanometer transistor chips. It features a new 6-core CPU design, faster on-device 16-core Neural Engine, ProRes codec, Pro display engine, AV1 decoder, USB-C connectivity with USB 3 support, variable refresh rate support, Apple Vision Pro integration, spatial video capture, and a redesigned 6-core GPU structure. 

The highlight of the new Pro and Pro Max is its camera system. The new system features a 48MP main camera with 24mm focal length, quad-pixel sensor, 100% Focus Pixels, second-gen sensor shift OIS, and smart HDR. It also has a 12MP 3x Telephoto camera that has a 77mm focal length, 6% Focus Pixels, and a 5x optical zoom at 120mm focal length on the iPhone Pro Max. The 12MP Ultra Wide camera, with the new anti-reflective coating, features a 133mm focal length, 100% Focus Pixels, and a 10x optical zoom range macro camera function.

Apple’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2030 means changes in material, energy, and shipping models. The new iPhone 15 lineup encloses use 75% recycled aluminum, 100% recycled cobalt in batteries, and 100% recycled copper foil in the main logic board and MagSafe charger.

The Apple iPhone 15 starts at $799, while the iPhone 15 Plus will start at $899. The iPhone 15 Pro carries over the same retail price as the previous generation at $999, while the Pro Max starts at $1,199.
