TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph ‘Year of the Dragon’ In Limited Edition Steel and Gold Variants
In celebration of the Chinese Year of the Dragon, TAG Heuer introduces the limited-edition Carrera Chronograph, seamlessly blending Chinese cultural richness with the brand’s iconic racing DNA. This exclusive release pays homage to the legendary creature symbolizing power and wisdom, featuring two stunning variations in stainless steel and 18k rose gold.
The 42mm Carrera Chronograph Year of the Dragon editions, in stainless steel or 18k rose gold, exhibit a perfect blend of TAG Heuer’s classic design and contemporary refinement. The absence of a tachymeter scale on the bezel, a nod to Jack Heuer’s original 1963 design, enhances the elegance of the timepieces. Other key features include polished piston-style pushers, a large crown, angular lugs, domed and beveled sapphire crystal over the dial, Luminescent material highlights on the central hour and minute hands, as well as the tips of the hour indices, and water resistance up to 100 meters.
The dials, subtly referencing the Year of the Dragon, mirror the cases. The steel version boasts a sunray-brushed silver dial, while the gold variant is made from a sunray-brushed 18k rose gold-plated dial. Both models incorporate contrasting red snailed sub-dials for elapsed 30 minutes at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock. A unique touch replaces the traditional small seconds sub-dial with two horizontal lines, accompanied by a vertical date window at 6 o’clock and a calligraphic dragon character below the central hands.
The central chronograph seconds hand and applied hour indices, plated in rhodium for the silver dial and pink gold for the gold dial, are accented in red lacquer. The steel variant comes with a red alligator strap, a steel folding clasp, and double-safety push buttons, while the rose gold version comes with a rose gold pin buckle.
The caseback on both models reveals a coiled dragon with a black body and golden scales printed on the sapphire crystal, giving a view of the modern Heuer 02 caliber movement. The in-house automatic movement boasts an integrated architecture, a column wheel, a vertical clutch, 4Hz frequency, 33 jewels, and an 80-hour power reserve.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph ‘Year of the Dragon’ steel model, limited to 300 timepieces, retails for $6,300, while the rose gold edition, limited to only 50 examples, is priced at $22,550. Both are available now exclusively from TAG Heuer boutiques, select retail partners, and the TAG Heuer website and are presented in a special exclusive red gift box.
