Cadillac Unveils The Future Of Its V-Series With The Opulent Velocity Concept

The new Opulent Velocity concept offers a glimpse into the future of the Caddilac V-Series. Debuted during Monterey Car Week, it breaks from the traditional gas performance of the V8s and steers the brand toward an electric future.

Cadillac only imagined the aesthetic design of the Opulent Velocity concept, with no details on the mechanics as of yet. The car features a low and long unusual shape since it’s an all-electric vehicle freed from the constraints of engines and driveshafts. The base of the A-pillar starts near the front axle line, and its roofline extends back into a teardrop-shaped rear.

The concept’s design further drifts away from Current EVs with the styling of the front and rear fascias. The front features a solid, body-colored shield with an illuminated Cadillac crest badge.

Flowing, clear, illuminated panels surround the shield that integrates vertical headlights. At the rear, a wide light panel replaces traditional tail fin-inspired lights. The rear glass accentuates the boat-tail taper of the roofline and the double bubble over the interior. Two massive butterfly doors further amplify the Opulent’s futuristic appeal.

The car’s interior is minimalistic, with two angular front seats suspended from the center console and rear seats that blend into the door panels. The dashboard is also quite simple and equipped with a steering yoke that retracts when the vehicle is in fully autonomous mode.  Much of the car’s information is displayed on the windshield, allowing the simple dashboard design. This enables the windows to display comforting environments when parked or in autonomous modes or display driving lines and ghost vehicles for manual driving on the road or track.

The Opulent Velocity is a concept that may not see production. However, its styling details will likely influence future performance models. For more details, visit the Cadillac website.
