Classic Defender V8 By Works Bespoke | Land Rover Reveals In-House Restomod

Land Rover’s Classic Defender has undergone several variations throughout its history. It was first launched as just the Defender. Then, it went through several limited-edition releases, including the 2016 Defender Heritage Edition, the 2018 Defender Works V8, the 2021 Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy, the 2022 Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy, and the 2023 Classic Defender Works V8 Islay Edition. A sixth edition has now been introduced, and this time around, it’s not labeled a limited-edition model.

The new edition, the Land Rover Classic Defender V8 by Works Bespoke, signifies Land Rover’s growing interest in the restomod business. Instead of customers going to independent shops, they can get factory-built restomods from Land Rover. For the Land Rover Classic, donor vehicles from 2012 to 2016 were used, and they were torn down and rebuilt. The familiar 5.0-liter V8 powers the vehicle, making 410 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, and takes it from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 5.6 seconds. The car also includes a new suspension featuring Bilstein shocks, Eibach springs, and an anti-roll bar.

Customers get to choose from Heritage, Standard, or Adventure grille options. Moreover, color options from Land Rover’s Heritage, Premium, Contemporary, and SV Metallic menus are also available. The car is equipped with 16-inch steel Wolf rims or 18-inch Sawtooth alloys, which come standard. The accessories include an exterior cage, a ladder, a winch, lights and light bars, side steps, a roof rack, and a camper conversion for the longer trims. The inside features leather upholstery, sports seats or Recaros, and a 3.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The four-seat 90 Classic Defender V8 is priced at  £190,000 ($250,378), the five-seat 110 at £199,000 ($262,237), and the seven-seat 110 at  £204,000 ($268,826). These prices exclude taxes and all the extras. The first demo units will debut on the Duke of Richmond’s lawn at the Goodwood Revival from September 6th to 8th.
