A rare 1996 Ferrari F355 GTS, personally owned by Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher during his early days with Scuderia, is set to go up for auction. Delivered to Schumacher in 1996, he personally used the car in Monaco before being acquired by another individual in 2002. In 2004, the car came into the ownership of its current owner, Christopher Allen of Vallauris, who has maintained it in pristine condition while also enjoying it as intended.
The F255 GTS is finished in a striking Blu Le Mans exterior over a luxurious Pella Crema leather interior. Configured to Schumacher’s specifications, the car features a six-speed manual gearbox, highlighting the two-time world champion’s preference for a pure driving experience when taking a break from Formula 1 racing. The car’s service history confirms delivery to Weber Management GmbH, Schumacher’s manager’s company, and its exclusive servicing at Monaco Motors during his ownership.
Over the years, the F355 GTS has been celebrated in the automotive world. It has been featured in publications such as Forza magazine, Ferrari World, and Auto Trends Classic. The car also won Best of Show at Spa Italia in Belgium in 2017 and was featured in a series made by Minichamps of 1:43 scale models.
Ferrari Classiche certification in 2020 verified the car’s original chassis, gearbox, bodywork, and original color combination. While the original engine was replaced before the consignor’s purchase in 2004, the Classiche certification confirms that it’s equipped with one of the correct types. The car has been serviced regularly by authorized Ferrari service centers throughout its current ownership. During its last major service in September 2024, the car received new rear brake pads, timing belts, battery, spark plugs, windscreen, and dashboard restoration.
The F355 GTS is one of Ferrari’s most desirable mid-engined sports cars, and Schumacher’s connection adds to its allure. Bidding opens on the 4th of February on RM Sotheby’s website.
