Audi is set to debut its groundbreaking Q6 e-tron offroad concept at this year’s World Cup weekend in Kitzbühel, Austria. The concept vehicle has two electric motors, delivering 380 kW of power. Moreover, thanks to innovative portal axles, the vehicle can conquer up to 100% gradients.
The Q6 e-tron offers a glimpse into Audio’s vision for the future of off-road EVs. Key to its performance are the redesigned portal axles, which increase wheel torque by 50%, a leap beyond the 20-30% offered by traditional designs. These axles increase the combined torque at all wheels to 13,400 Nm, a total increase of 4,400 Nm.
While the vehicle’s top speed is limited to 175 km/h (108 mph), the enhanced torque allows it to climb inclines up to 45 degrees effortlessly. Matching the car’s spectacular performance is its bold design, with its ride height raised by 160 mm and its track widened by 250 mm.
The Q6 e-tron off-road concept is based on the Audi Q6 e-tron, the first production model built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). It redefines Audi’s signature Vorsprung durch Technik on and off the road.
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner expressed his enthusiasm following a first test drive: ‘The Q6 e-tron offroad concept is a reinterpretation of quattro. The model shows the potential that our platform for all-electric vehicles already has today. This vehicle can claim new ground. We look forward to seeing our customers’ reactions to this highly emotive car.’
