Grand Seiko has released yet another model inspired by the famous Japanese mountain, Mount Iwate. Known as the SLGH027, this Hi-Beat 36000 model expands on the brand’s Evolution 9 collection. It features a pale blue radial-textured dial designed to resemble the overhead view of the mountain.
The dial’s light blue color symbolizes the purity of the air and water surrounding Mount Iwate, while darker blue text and a matching seconds hand provide contrast. Finely polished hour markers, elegant dauphine-shaped hands, and a framed date window at 3 o’clock complete the sophisticated design. Like other Evolution 9 Hi-Beat 36000 models, the dial of the SLGH027 is devoid of any luminous material.
Similar to other models in the collection, the SLGH027 case measures 40 mm in diameter. It is crafted from Ever-Brilliant Steel, offering superior corrosion resistance and a 100-meter depth rating. The case is further elevated by a box-shaped sapphire crystal display caseback, Zaratsu polishing, and finely brushed surfaces.
The SLGH027 shares the same Caliber 9SA5 automatic movement found in other Evolution 9 Hi-Beat watches. This 47-jewel movement beats at a frequency of 36,000vph (5 Hz), has an 80-hour power reserve, offers 4,800 A/m of magnetic resistance, and has an accuracy rating of -3/+5 seconds per day. It includes a twin-barrel design and a Dual Impulse Escapement. The SLGH027 also features a similar style bracelet found in other Evolution 9 watches with its multi-link design, push-button folding clasp, and 18k emblem.
Only 1200 examples of this timepiece will be released with the caseback of each watch engraved with its individual number. Each piece is priced at $10,500. For more information, visit the brand’s website.
