Grand Seiko has revealed a new regional and limited-edition timepiece, the SBGJ283. This latest creation is inspired by the traditional Japanese art of Washi paper making and is hence nicknamed ‘Washi Paper.’
The watch’s dial features a soft off-white color and mirrors the delicate textures of Washi paper. Its intricate pattern and subtle luster create a refined, elegant aesthetic similar to previous special 44GS watches.
The SBGJ283 is powered by the brand’s self-winding 9386 caliber, which offers a 55-hour power reserve. This movement is encased in a 40mm Ever-Brilliant Steel watch case. For versatility, it has a three-fold stainless steel bracelet and a brown crocodile leather strap.
Only 150 examples of the SBGJ283 ‘Washi Paper’ timepiece will be released, each priced at $11,000 SGD (approx. $8,116 USD). Starting January 1, 2025, it will be exclusively available at Grand Seiko boutiques and select retailers across the Asia Pacific region. For more details, visit the brand’s website.
