Grand Seiko’s Heritage Collection Welcomes Two New Models

Grand Seiko welcomes the SBGW291 and SBGW293 to its Heritage Collection, the first models to feature the brand’s 44GS mid-sized case design at 36.5mm.

The Heritage Collection’s new SBGW291 features a silver sunray dial pattern, while the new SBGW293 is presented with a chocolate sunray dial pattern. Both timepieces are modern interpretations of the original 44GS design capturing its sharp indexes and clean sunray pattern dial. The bright Zaratsu polishing gives it some contemporary punch.

These timepieces are the smallest 44GS design in the Grand Seiko collection, powered by the slim, manual winding Caliber 9S64. The chronographs have a power reserve of 72 hours and are water resistant up to 100m.

The 1967 44GS showcases the Grand Seiko Style using nine different elements, from the shape of the index to the case angles and the dial flatness. It celebrated the purity and crisp aesthetic of the brand.

Grand Seiko’s new SBGW291 and SBGW293 are priced at $5,200. The first pieces will be available at Grand Seiko boutiques and select retailers next month.
