The first Monza, with the Rosso Corsa red accents, was launched in 1976 to pay homage to Niki Lauda’s first F1 world championship title victory with Ferrari in 1975. This year, the Swiss brand reimagined the classic Monza with the Monza Flyback Chronometer.
The 42 mm special edition TAG Heuer Monza Flyback Chronometer features a new case aesthetic and a new skeletonized dial design paired with TAG Heuer’s in-house movement. It sports a flyback function that allows users to reset the chronograph without stopping it first, a tachymeter scale, and a pulsometer.
The Monza Flyback Chronometer features a marbled carbon composite case and an ultra-lightweight matte forged carbon dial protected by a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment. It also comes with ultra-lightweight and resistant carbon with a black Diamond-Like Carbon crown and push buttons.
The two-register layout features a translucent fumé blue sapphire crystal chronograph counter at 3, the permanent second at 6 o’clock over a skeletonized black dial that shows a blue luminescent date window at 9 o’clock, a first for the brand. The dial face is enhanced with Super-LumiNova treatment on the blue lacquered indexes and black and white lacquered hours and minutes hands. Red accents complete the look.
The black PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) Grade 5 titanium screw-down case back features a transparent sapphire crystal that shows the in-house Calibre HEUER02 COSC Flyback automatic chronograph movement.
Its 33-jewel movement is COSC certified, beating at a frequency of 4 Hz with a power reserve of 80 hours. It comes with a blackened rotor with red markings and a red column wheel.
The special edition chronometer sports a black textile rubber strap with blue accent stitching and comes in a special blue-lined black box and dedicated pouch that echoes the watch strap.
The TAG Heuer Monza Flyback Chronometer is available from TAG Heuer website, boutiques, and from select authorized dealers. It carries an MSRP of $13,850.
