Mercedes-AMG Unveils New GT3 Inspired Car Dubbed The Edition 130Y Motorsport

The Mercedes-Benz Edition 130Y Motorsport is an exclusive track-focused marvel that made its unveil at Monterey Car Week. It is a special version of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 race car and was released to celebrate 130 years of Mercedes’ legacy.

Mercedes-AMG made the car as fast as possible by equipping it with a 6.3-liter V8 without any intake restrictions. This beast cranks out an impressive 671 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. It also includes a six-speed sequential transaxle that sends power to the rear wheels.

The Edition 130Y isn’t just about raw power. It’s been re-engineered with a new front splitter, rear diffuser, side skirts, underbody panels, fender louvers, and a wider rear wing, which reduces downforce by 15% over the competition car. The car also benefits from a drag reduction system (DRS) that lets you push past 196 mph. Unlike the steel rotors in the GT3 class, this special edition features carbon ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers up front and four-piston ones in the rear, shedding pounds from the car’s weight while simultaneously enhancing its stopping power.

The car’s appeal is enhanced by its visually stunning design. Its paint scheme is inspired by a 1952 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, offering a nod to the past. The inside features blue and white plaid fabric upholstery, light brown leather accents on the racing buckets, and walnut wood on the steering wheel grips. The car has all the essential safety features, such as the carbon fiber safety cell, five-point harness, steel roll cage, and fire suppression system.

Each edition includes a custom car cover, a 1:8 scale model, a matching plaid bag filled with Puma racing gear, and a Bell helmet. Only 13 cars will be built, each priced at about  $1.14 million or 1.03 million Euros. For more details, visit the Mercedes-AMG website.
