McLaren W1 Is Woking’s Latest Hypercar, Following In Footsteps of F1 and P1

Mclaren unveiled its latest supercar, the W1, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their first Formula 1 World Championship win. It’s a supercar that takes the abilities of the F1 and P1 even further with its epic power produced by an all-new McLaren High-Performance Hybrid Powertrain.

The W1’s powertrain can reach 200 km/h in an astonishing 5.8 seconds thanks to its MHP-8 engine, lighter E-module, F1-derived battery technology, and the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated E-Differential. The newly developed V8 engine has a port and direct injection to extract maximum horsepower from every drop of fuel. It delivers 1,275PS with lightning-fast response across all rev ranges when paired with the E-module.

The supercar pushes performance on the road and the track with its best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 911PS/tonne that ensures ultimate driver control and engagement. The W1 also features a McLaren road car’s most advanced aero system, further contributing to its handling abilities, performance, and speed. The all-new purpose-built McLaren Aerocell monocoque and the new McLaren Active Long Tail achieve this exceptional aerodynamic performance.

The Aerocell features a narrow front section, raised footbox, and reduced wheelbase, which enhances airflow. Combined with the Active Long Tail, which extends backward by 300 in race mode, the aero package generates 1,000 kg of downforce, five times more than in road configuration. The W1 transforms dramatically in Race Mode, with aerodynamic components and suspension tuned for maximum track performance.

The remarkable supercar also offers hydraulic steering, ultra-high torque transmission, a new Formula 1-inspired suspension concept, and rear-wheel drive, all contributing to the incredible driving experience. Additionally, the W1 is equipped with the MCCR+ braking system that provides superior stopping power and improves the driver’s connection to the road, making it a joy to drive.

The McLaren W1 is instantly recognizable with its aerodynamic silhouette. The exterior blends sleek organic surfaces with precise, technical aerodynamics. Formula 1-inspired side pods channel airflow around the McLaren Aerocell, which features Hexagonal doors with integrated aero blades.

The interior balances design and engineering, offering best-in-class driver focus, visibility, and comfort. It features the world’s first application of InnoKnit, the company’s flexible and super-light patented technology. The InnoKnit incorporates interior lightning and sound components while reducing weight.

The W1 supercar offers epic power, authentic theater, incredible performance, and pure driver connection. Pricing starts from about $2.1 million. For more information, visit the brand’s website.
