TAG Heuer Unveils Two New Purple Carrera Chronographs

TAG Heuer is joining the purple dial trend by introducing this captivating color to its Carrera line as part of its releases for LVMH Watch Week 2025. The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph and limited edition TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon feature rich purple dials, which add a striking aesthetic to the brand’s iconic chronograph collection while maintaining its signature ‘Glassbox’ design.

The two models share the same stainless steel ‘Glassbox’ case but differ in size. The Carrera Chronograph features a compact 39mm case, while the Tourbillon version takes a bolder approach with a 42mm diameter. Apart from the size difference, the case of both models is quite similar, featuring the same bezel-less sapphire crystal, faceted lugs, polished surfaces, horizontally brushed sides, sapphire display case backs, and 100-meter water resistance. Moreover, the thickness difference between the two models is just under half a meter despite the tourbillon complication.

TAG Heuer has previously embraced this regal hue, where a variant of Monaco featured a purple dégradé dial back in 2022. The two new models use a similar deep, violet-colored dial that fades into black along the edges. Both models include sloping split indices and black azurage subdials with raised outer scales. However, apart from its minimal three-arm tourbillon cage, the wider diameter of the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon makes it more visually stunning by allowing the striking purple to shine more.

Powering these models are TAG Heuer’s in-house automatic movements. The Carrera Chronograph is equipped with the TH20-00, featuring an 80-hour power reserve, a 28,800 bph beat rate, and a column wheel with a vertical clutch. The movement is finished with Côtes de Genève for the bridges and a skeletonized rotor.

Meanwhile, the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon houses the TH20-09 automatic tourbillon chronograph movement, which includes an intricate tourbillon escapement. While its power reserve is reduced to 65 hours, the movement maintains the same precision and design language as the TH20-00.

Both watches are paired with classic black leather rally straps featuring tone-on-tone black stitching and deployant clasps. The purple Carrera Chronograph is priced at 6,500 CHF, while the purple Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon is priced at 34,000 CHF. Only 200 examples of the Tourbillon version will be produced. Both versions are available through the brand’s website, in-store, and authorized dealers.
