Australian architect Richard Smith has taken an old brick building in Sydney that used to be an auto repair shop and turned it into a practical and modern open living space. On the exterior, a new carport entrance hints at the upgrades, which become apparent once you see the windows and courtyard. The home boasts high ceilings and exposed timber beams, which preserve the original rustic look of the building. The painted brick walls and smoothed concrete flooring also preserve the building’s industrial history, but add a clean and refined look, making the space appear both practical and welcoming. Take a look at the gallery below.
