Introducing the Land Rover Defender 130, a new member to the Defender family that’s set to sit alongside the Defender 90 and Defender 110. As expected, the new Land Rover 130 is an all-terrain vehicle that can comfortably seat eight people across three rows.
It is by far the longest member of the series, with the Defender silhouette extended by 13.38 inches, making it a total of 211 inches long. It rides on a 119-inch wheelbase, is 79 inches wide with the door mirrors folded, and is 77.6 inches tall. The key selling feature of 130 is its space. If you fold down the second and third rows, you’re looking at a total of 80.9 cubic feet. The total volume reduces to 45.3 cubic feet when the third-row seats are folded. When all three rows are up, trunk space is 13.7 cubic feet.
Its exterior design features 13 inches of sheet metal at the rear overhang, with its bottom part having a subtle boat tail-style uplift with a departure angle of 28.5 degrees. Some of the other redesigns include the rear light bezels and a new body-color hardcover for the spare tire. The new Defender 130 comes in an exclusive Sedona Red finish with all lower body panels being offered in Ceres Silver Satin.
The optional Extended Bright Pack complements the 130’s elegant proportions. Ceres Silver detailing is found on all Defender 130 models’ hood louvers and side fenders and is complemented by 20-inch Luna alloy wheels in a Bright Silver finish. Clients can also choose upgrades with Defender’s exterior accessories, including the Explorer, Adventure, Country, and Urban packs.
Inside, we are welcomed with Noble Chrome and Ceres Silver accents and Natural Light Oak engineered wood veneer inspired by driftwood that complements the Light Oyster Perforated Windsor Leather seating. Land Rover’s 10.25-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen comes standard, while the X specification receives an 11.4-inch unit. The global location platform what3words is also integrated while being fitted with an exclusive Four Zone Climate Control system.
Moving on to the powertrains, the Defender 130 is available on P300 gas Ingenium and P400 mild-hybrid gas Ingenium six-cylinder engines, both mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The P300 can go from 0 to 60mph in 7.5 seconds, while the latter only needs 6.3 seconds.
The new Defender 130 is available in S, SE, X-Dynamic SE, and X specifications, with the First Edition having three distinct colorways and an extensive equipment list.
Every Defender 130 is equipped with Electronic Air Suspension with Adaptive Dynamics and Land Rover’s advanced Terrain Response system that allows the driver to modify the ride height as needed. With its suspension allowing for up to16.9 of articulation, the SUV can wade through 35.4 inches of water.
Land Rover is gifting Her Majesty and the British Red Cross a specially commissioned New Defender 130 to support operations in the UK in honor of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Land Rover experts will collaborate with officials from the charity to customize the Defender 130 before it enters service later this year. Her Majesty The Queen is a patron of the organization.
