Tudor Pelagos 39 Hits The Sweet Spot Between Size and Function

Tudor launched the original Pelagos in 2012 and it was the brand’s entry in the purpose-built watch territory. Known for creating different sizes for models in its collections, it was a matter of time before Tudor gave the Pelagos its well-deserved attention. Tudor adds the Pelagos 39 to the lineup as a smaller version of the original. It trades in some of the professional dive watch capabilities for a smaller profile for everyday use.

The timepiece is presented in a compact 39mm grade 2 titanium case in a satin brushed finish paired with a matching titanium bracelet. Customers have a choice to replace the strap with the included end-link rubber strap and T-fit clasp. The Pelagos 39 sports a 200-meter depth resistance, removing the helium valve escape component present in the original Pelagos. It’s capped with a solid caseback, screw-down titanium winding crown, a flat sapphire crystal dial cover, and functional crown guards. Like other models in the Pelagos line, the Pelagos 39 also sports a unidirectional rotating timing bezel with a luminous ceramic insert in a sunray satin finish.

In front, the Pelagos 39 face features several key features including a dial face in a black sunray satin finish, a dial layout with a 45-degree angled flange, and monobloc ceramic composite hour markers. The facing also contains text denoting the model’s name, depth rating, certification, and the red embossed Pelagos name.

Kenissi’s in-house Caliber MT5400 automatic movement powers the watch with a 28,800vph frequency, a non-magnetic silicon hairspring, a 70-hour power reserve, and COSC chronometer certification.

Retailing for $4,400 USD, the Pelagos 39 costs less than its bigger sibling. Reach out to your Tudor authorized dealer to order yours now.
