Zenith Defy Extreme E Copper X Prix Marks All-Electric 2022 Extreme E Championship Race

The Zenith DEFY Extreme E Copper X Prix is inspired by the Extreme E electric rally race leg in Antofagasta, Chile. As the official timekeeper and a founding partner of Extreme E, Zenith has released several special edition models, and the limited edition Zenith Defy Extreme E Copper X Prix marks the latest in the series.

With the innovative materials of the collection in earthy tones that recall the copper mines of the region, the chronograph incorporates recycled and upcycled elements from the championship.

The timepiece is crafted in lightweight carbon fiber, including the crown and pushers, paired with contrasting microblasted titanium in the pusher protectors and the twelve-sided bezel. The coppery-brown-accented tinted sapphire crystal dial allows a view of the movement underneath. Its display consists of Rhodium-plated, faceted, and SuperLuminova SLN C1-coated hour markers, seconds at 9 o’clock, a 60-second and a 30-minute counter. The central seconds offer a 1/100th of a second measurement.

This edition of the Zenith Defy Extreme has a rubber strap covered with materials of upcycled Continental CrossContact tires used in the first season’s races. The strap features a black rubber central element surrounded by a brown Cordura-effect rubber inlay, with two additional straps in black rubber and black Velcro also provided.

The DEFY Extreme E Copper X Prix Limited Edition is powered by the El Primero 21 movement, visible through the sapphire display back decorated with the Copper X Prix logo. It comes with two regulating organs and escapements, one beating at 5Hz for timekeeping and the other at 50Hz to offer a 1/100th of a second chronograph function.There will only be 20 Defy Extreme E Copper X Prix pieces made at a price of $27,100 each. The collector’s watch will only be available exclusively from Zenith’s online and physical boutiques.
