Ferrari 499P Le Mans Hypercar Aims For World Endurance Championship

Ferrari officially launches the 499P at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali event at Imola. The Ferrari 499P is the sports prototype built for the World Endurance Championship Le Mans Hypercar class.

The Ferrari 499P Le Mans Hypercar’s visual identity takes cue from the 296 GT3 and the Daytona SP3 with the headlight clusters and the sweeping manta ray front profile. Its red and yellow color scheme is inspired by the 312P.

The new hypercar runs on a 2.9-liter hybrid twin-turbocharged V6 engine based on the 296 GT3 engine architecture. The powertrain produces a total of 680HP, with 268HP coming from the Brembo brake-by-wire energy recovery system’s electric motor powering the front wheels.

The Ferrari 499P will mark its first race at the 1000 Miles of Sebring next March. Though a driver lineup has yet to be announced, drivers from the GT program are expected to take the wheel at the prototype racing.
