Porsche Releases Two Special Edition Watches To Celebrate 50 Years Of The Porsche Turbo 911

Porsche celebrates its 50th anniversary of the 911 Turbo this year by releasing a special anniversary edition of the iconic Porsche Turbo 911 supercar and two limited-edition watches. The first watch is called the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years, and it is only available to those who purchase the special anniversary Turbo 911 model. However, Porsche Turbo fans can still get their hands on the second exclusive watch, called the Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition.

The Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years is a sportscar for the wrist, and its design and performance are inspired by the legendary vehicle. Its lightweight titanium case builds on the lightweight design concept of the 911 Turbo 50 Years. Moreover, the vehicle’s limited-edition number is engraved on the back of the case, further connecting it to the special model. Further similarities between the timepiece and the 911 Turbo 50 Years are the winding rotor on the back, which is based on the wheel design of the sports car, and the black leather strap, which is crafted with Porsche car leather and embellished with Turbonite yarn. It also includes a titanium folding clasp with push-button release.

Like the optional Heritage Design Package for the 911 Turbo 50 Years, the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years is available in a Heritage Design Edition. It features similar color accents to the Heritage Design Package, with phosphorous green and gold elements on the dial and rehaut and a brilliant silver and white bi-color finish rotor.

Turning our attention to the Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition, made for Porsche fans and Turbo enthusiasts. The iconic Chronograph I inspired this special edition, which features distinctive design elements of the first Porsche 911 Turbo. Its case is ultra-light and durable titanium, similar to the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years. However, it includes a black titanium carbide coating, paying tribute to the original all-black Chronograph I timepiece.

The instrument panel of the first 911 Turbo with three totalizers inspired the timepiece’s matte black dial design. It includes white hands and indices and a contrasting red stop-second hand, similar to the Porsche 911 Turbo cockpit. Moreover, the dial is embellished with the 1970s Porsche Design logo. The watch also features an open case back with sevenfold anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The back includes the limited edition number (XXX/500) and the iconic Turbo lettering framed by the years 1974 and 2024.

The Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition is completed with a beige-colored textile leather strap featuring a quick-release system with a black Velcro fastener and black loops. The beige color is a tribute to the legendary Porsche 911 Turbo’s metallic beige paintwork and full leather interior. The watch also has an additional titanium bracelet with a black titanium carbide coating.

Both watches are equipped with a Porsche Design WERK 01.200 caliber that provides power, a COSC-certified chronograph that records successive time intervals, and a flyback function that enables starting, stopping, and resetting to zero in one process.

The chronographs are made with utmost precision and performance. Each watch is manufactured by hand in Porsche’s watch manufactory in Switzerland. The Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years is limited to 1,974 units, similar to the 911 Turbo 50 Years sports car, and can be purchased for $12,553 at Porsche centers. On the other hand, the Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition is strictly limited to 500 pieces and can be purchased for $12,000 at Porsche Design Stores worldwide or porsche-design.com and shop.porsche.com.
