Closer Look | Alexander Olch Raw Silk Neckwear, S/S 2011

For this editorial, Por Homme teamed up with up-and-coming online catalog, Two Inch Cuffs. Our teams worked closely together to ensure the contents of this piece were fitting of our independent yet fairly similar voices. Much thanks to Ruben Hughes of Two Inch Cuffs. Photography by Paul Wax.

We had the opportunity to meet New York based designer Alexander Olch a few months back and all eyes were on the man’s necktie. He was sporting a raw silk tie that was due to drop this season and now that his Spring 2011 collection is out at select stockists, we wanted to shed light on some of our favorite pieces from the lineup. The raw silk material is unique as not many designers have taken their stab at it and also because the texture allows it to be worn year ’round. The Olch has been downright flawless ever since he entered the industry a few years back and this season’s collection reaffirms this.

The raw silk neckwear comes in both bowtie and necktie varieties.

Wm. J. Mills & Co. gives us an in depth look at their entire bag lineup from their Stonewashed Vintage Series. The bags featured are all their standard offerings such as the Jitney Cargo bag and Sag Harbour duffle but feature this unique stonewash finish. The washing gives an aged look to the canvas and the hot wash, causes the fabric to pucker at the seams due to shrinkage. Check out the collection in its entirety below.

SS11 gear is beginning to roll into stockists worldwide and End Clothing just got a hold of this Nigel Cabourn piece which happens to be exclusively available at the UK retailer. The jacket is a perfect Spring/Summer jacket as it’s lightweight but fully waterproof. The Aircraft Jacket is available exclusively through End Clothing in four different finishes — Blue Oxford, Black Oxford, Blue Gingham Check, and Blue Windowpane Check. The Review | Graham Withers Neckwear

The Review | Graham Withers Neckwear

We recently got a special delivery from New York-based Graham Withers, a fairly young tie company started back in 2007. The duo behind the brand, Paul Hanan and Dave Roma, started out in their Brooklyn apartment designing t-shirts and as their style evolved, so has their lineup. The production is handled by a seasoned veteran with over 40 years of experience in the business. Their fall collection consists of neckties as well as bowties, all of which are looking tremendous. We checked out the Montagne up close, and we have to say, the versatility is much-welcomed.

Graham Withers delivers great products and the price points are quite reasonable. That coupled with the high-quality craftsmanship and fabric choices really makes the brand worth checking out. Seriously.

Stetson Hats by Billy Reid [Fall 2010]

For the past 130 plus years, the John B. Stetson company has been crafting high-quality, extremely functional hats. The longevity of the brand is a testament to the iconic brand’s dedication to detail and consistent design ethos. For the fall, they’ve linked up with Billy Reid for eleven hats for men, women and some for both.

The collection ranges from dead stock wool fedoras, nutria constructed trapper toboggans, to English driving caps with leather tie secured convertible ear flaps. Our favorite is the Conway, a waxed cotton fishing cap with a distressed leather live cut raw edge bill. It’s lined with heirloom pillow ticking and the interior drop-down convertible ear flap is lined in wool tweed jacquard for added warmth.

The collection is available now at Billy Reid.
